Hunt Info & Policies

What’s Included, Booking Requirements & Important Hunt Policies


Fully Outfitted Hunts Include

  • Professional, experienced guide
     
  • Meals and accommodations (RV, motel, or cabin depending on unit)
     
  • Transportation during the hunt
     
  • Field trophy preparation
     

Guided-Only Hunts Include

  • Professional, experienced guide
     
  • Transportation during the hunt

Prices Do Not Include

  • New Mexico hunting license and tag fees
     
  • Landowner tag fees
     
  • New Mexico state tax (6.5%)
     
  • Meat processing and taxidermy
     
  • Guide and cook gratuities
     

Gratuities:
Industry standard gratuity is
10–20% of the hunt price, tipped directly to your guide and cook. Gratuities should reflect overall effort and experience, not harvest success. Our guides work tirelessly to provide the best possible opportunity.


Success & Trophy Expectations

  • Harvest success is not guaranteed on any hunt.
     
  • Trophy size, animal availability, weather conditions, and hunter ability are beyond the outfitter’s control.
     
  • No refunds or discounts will be issued due to lack of opportunity, missed shots, weather, hunter physical condition, or early departure.
     

Hunter Responsibilities & Physical Requirements

  • Hunters must be in adequate physical condition for their selected hunt.
     
  • Hunts may involve hiking, uneven terrain, elevation, and varying weather conditions.
     
  • Hunters are responsible for practicing with their weapon prior to arrival.
     
  • Any medical conditions or physical limitations must be disclosed before booking.
     

Weapons, Gear & Licensing

  • Hunters are responsible for bringing legal weapons, ammunition, and personal hunting gear. (see field gear & weapons section for more info)
     
  • Hunters are responsible for understanding and complying with all New Mexico hunting regulations.
     
  • The outfitter is not responsible for lost, damaged, or malfunctioning personal equipment.
     

Weather & Safety

  • Hunts take place in unpredictable weather conditions.
     
  • Hunt plans may be adjusted or modified for safety reasons at the outfitter’s discretion.
     
  • Safety is the top priority for both hunters and guides.
     

Deposits & Booking Requirements


NM Draw Hunts (10% Outfitter Pool)

  • Signed contract required.
     
  • 50% non-refundable deposit due within 7 days of a successful draw via cashier’s check or Zelle.
     
  • Remaining balance due on site prior to the hunt in cash, cashier’s check, or Zelle.
     

NM Guaranteed Landowner Tags

  • Signed contract required.
     
  • Full price of the tag plus a 50% non-refundable guide fee deposit due within 7 days of booking via cashier’s check or Zelle.
     
  • Remaining guide fee due on site prior to the hunt in cash, cashier’s check, or Zelle.
     

These hunts book quickly and availability is limited.


NM Over-the-Counter Tags

  • Signed contract required.
     
  • 50% non-refundable deposit due within 7 days of booking via cashier’s check or Zelle.
     
  • Remaining balance due on site prior to the hunt in cash, cashier’s check, or Zelle.
     

Cancellation Policy

  • All deposits are non-refundable.
     
  • No refunds will be issued for cancellations, early departure, weather conditions, tag issues, or lack of success.
     
  • Hunts may be transferable to another hunter only with outfitter approval and must occur within the same season.

Acknowledgment

By booking a hunt with M&S New Mexico Outfitters, the client acknowledges they have read, understand, and agree to all hunt policies, pricing, and terms listed above.

Public notification of non-discrimination policy

In accordance with Federal law and U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) civil rights regulations and policies, this institution is prohibited from discriminating on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, age, disability, and reprisal or retaliation for prior civil rights activity. (Not all prohibited bases apply to all programs.) Program information may be made available in languages other than English. Persons with disabilities who require alternative means of communication for program information (e.g., Braille, large print, audiotape, and American Sign Language) should contact the responsible State or local Agency that administers the program or USDA’s TARGET Center at (202) 720-2600 (voice and TTY) or contact USDA through the Federal Relay Service at (800) 877-8339.
